Escaping Chicago blizzards, we drove southeast to backpack Georgia’s Cumberland Island. Virtually deserted, with no car traffic and in the off season, the island seemed a world away… huge oak trees wrapped in Spanish moss, white sand beaches, wild horses, armadillos, and ruins of a bygone era…
On the way, we got lost in the beauty of historic Charleston and soaked in Nashville’s music scene.
